About Jennie

Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Surface Pattern Design, Jennie Seward began her career as a colorist, and designer of fabric and wall coverings for F. Schumacher & Co. in New York, NY. An integral part of the design process, Jennie worked with historic documents from conception and layout to researching and painting color ways, through overseeing the printing process at the mills.

Jennie began freelancing as an interior designer and founded Jennie Seward & Co. in 1990.  A love for color and to constantly create led Jennie to begin designing her own line of custom decoupage lamps and decorative accessories, as well as hand-painted silk pillows, furniture, commissioned needlepoint rug designs and murals. Her work has been sold both through the Trade/ADAC, and in Eastern boutiques from Naples, FL to Nantucket, MA.

Upon relocating to Atlanta, GA, Jennie pursued design with the high-end residential firm, Ann Platz and Company. There she had the privilege of collaborating on some of the most beautiful homes in Atlanta. While living in the South, Jennie became the Art Director of a fast growing do-it-yourself home décor company appearing in many trade publications, on numerous televised home décor shows, as well as QVC and HSN.

In more recent years, Jennie has continued to feed her passion for designing beautiful wall coverings and fabrics by creating commissioned designs for clothing brands such as Lilly Pulitzer, Lisi Lerch, Vanessa Fox and Three Islands. Jennie executes designs by hand and renders them in gouache, from her Haverford, PA design studio.

Raised in New England, Jennie describes her style as “Traditional With a Twist“.  Her specialty is incorporating the collected and personal history of one’s furnishings and décor, with a fresh and current feel. Jennie brings with her, a well-trained sense of color as well as the unique ability to see the potential in spaces that may sometimes seem challenging. She is always mindful of creating rooms that are a reflection of her client’s individual style, as well as of their specific needs.

Jennie Seward & Co. provides interior design and décor services as well as construction and contractor oversight, detail, finish, and color specification, as well as consulting services. Jennie provides her clients with both attentions to detail, as well as personal service.

Jennie Seward resides on the Main Line in Pennsylvania. When she is not hunting for beautiful décor and accessories, she loves to ski and sail with her three children and husband. Always inspired by new spaces, Jennie is constantly on the lookout for the next “challenging” home of her own to rehabilitate.
